The state of Utah started the Utah Innovation Fund to elevate Utah's economy by commercializing technologies discovered, advanced or developed at Utah's higher education institutions. The Utah Venture Hub provides Utah Innovation Fund leadership early access to research products and business opportunities to help U researchers receive resources, guidance and expertise on how to shape research products into investable businesses.

The University of Utah has partnered with Salt Lake City-based EPIC Ventures. EPIC has a nearly 30-year track record of fund management and has made over 125 investments ranging from software to healthcare. The Utah Venture Hub provides the EPIC team an early look at new and emerging university opportunities, allowing the EPIC team to guide and support new startups.
